Umtiti will arrive early next week on loan to Lecce from Barcelona: the details

Lecce is preparing to welcome Samuel Umtiti, a central defender born in 1993 who is under contract at Barcelona.

Umtiti joins on a simple loan, with salary (20 million euros gross) covered entirely by the Blaugrana club. Barcelona will receive bonuses linked to the player's appearances.  

Umtiti will arrive in Lecce early next week. The French player has chosen the Salento club because, in the future, he wants to become a coach and wants to learn about Italian football and the tactics.

The player will bring his personal athletic trainer with him to treat the muscles close to the left knee that, in past years, has given several problems in recent seasons. 

Umtiti's stats and successes 

At just 28 years old, Umtiti has had a career of the highest level. The defender, who grew up in Lyon's youth system, made his debut with the French club in January 2012 winning a Super Cup and a French Cup. In 2016 he then moved to Barcelona for 25 million euros, with whom he made 133 appearances and won 2 league titles, 3 super cups and 3 Spanish Cups.   

The most important successes, however, came with the French national team with which he won the World Cup, as a starter, at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Previously, he had also won a U20 World Cup with the youth national team.
