Udinese, Widmer: "Napoli, Roma and Inter? I'm happy here and I have a contract until 2020"

Silvan Widmer will play his 100th match for Udinese on Sunday against Inter. This is fourth season though might never have happened as he was very close to switching clubs this summer and joining some prestigious Serie A sides:

"Napoli, Inter and Roma? The biggest let down was not going to France for the Euros" - says Widmer to La Gazzetta Dello Sport - "I'm doing extremely well at Udinese, I have a contract until 2020 and now we're starting to have fun. I don't want to leave. I repeat, me and my wife Celine are happy here. She works at a bank in Zurich but is often in Udine. On the pitch, Del Neri let me know he saw me as a full-back also and I agreed... I knew I had to improve the defensive aspect of my game".

On the match this weekend against the nerazzurri: "Inter? You can tell they're aiming high. They have players who can make the difference such as Perisic. We play every match to win it though. My favourite Inter player? Miranda. He's so solid and guides the defense extremely well".
