Few former players are held in higher regard by Milan fans than Andriy Shevchenko. The feeling is mutual as the Ukrainian striker told Gazzetta dello Sport:"I love Italy, I feel Italian. Since I was a child I had your country in my heart. I came here when I was eleven to play a tournament at Agropoli and I was impressed by the people, the way of life, everything. I returned home with the conviction that one day I would have lived for a long time in Italy. The country is the university of football when it comes to the tactical aspect"

Shevchenko was asked about the current state of his former team Milan:"I had reservations about about them and I would like to clarify. I simply said that personally when it comes to the transfer market, I would have only added 3/4 new starters, but of high quality. Those are already a lot of changes as far as I'm concerned. The path chosen by the new ownership is legitimate, but it assumes a long term plan, so you need patience from all involved"
