Sampdoria, Ferrero: "Giampaolo will stay with us. It could be time to go for Torreira but we're working to keep the important players, Praet and Zapata included"

While they've been close to their dream of playing in Europe for a long time, it's now been gone for a few games but the players want to end their season the right way at the Ferrara, looking at the future. Daniele Pradè, technical director and Carlo Osti, the sporting director, whose contracts would have ended in next June, have extended it with Ferrero's club. "Everything is done, they'll stay with us" has said the president, getting out of the Ac Hotel in Genova after agreeing on the terms with his employees.

"Will Giampaolo still be on our bench next season? Yes. What did he ask me? I know football and can analyze it. We've analyzed the team and seen where it could be reinforced, that's what we'll do". Ferrero is ready to reinforce his Sampdoria, trying in the meantime to keep his best men: starting from the directors. "They've ruined me, I had to empty my pockets" said Ferrero, joking.

"Will the important players stay? It's not like I can force them: I think Torreira will leave, it could be the moment for him but the others will stay. Praet and Zapata included. We're working on it, remember Sampdoria is an important club, one of the most important in believing in young talents and letting them grow. When they're ready we sell them to important English, German teams though, you've seen it haven't you?".

He also jokes about Roberto Mancini in the end, new head coach of the Italian national team: "It's the right choice, thoughtful and efficient: Il Mancio is il Mancio".
