Sampdoria, Ferrari suffers knee injury in training

The Christmas season is not being kind to Sampdoria, as Alex Ferrari suffered a severe knee injury while training with the team this morning in preparation for their January 6 match against Milan.

Sampdoria released the below statement on the defender: 

"During a scrimmage, while crossing the ball, Alex Ferrari suffered an injury to his right knee. The tests, which were done immediately after the injury, showed trauma to the player's ACL. The defender will be evaluated again tomorrow."

It is possible that Ferrari will need to undergo surgery, which would keep him sidelined for at least the beginning of 2020.
