Roma, Spalletti: “We suffered, but the victory was earned. Nainggolan? He’s a bit like Perrotta”
Roma can once again smile after obtaining three important points and securing the second spot in the Serie A standings. Luciano Spalletti spoke to Sky Sport after the game:
“I saw the lads play as a team in the second half. We didn’t have the speed that Salah can give us, I expected more from El Shaarawy, but we never abandoned our defensive line. We managed to create a couple of important chances, but we weren’t good enough to create more. The match was balanced: we won suffering. I don’t think Roma winning is a scandal because we deserved it. Milan is good at making your life difficult in the build up play, it’s one of Montella’s characteristics. They bring a lot of men to press your defensive line, even their full backs. They did more of that in the first half, and finally let off a bit in the second. The fact that Niang didn’t play so well is also because an excellent Rudiger marked him. Nonetheless, Milan should now be considered among the stronger sides of the league. Nainggolan as an offensive midfielder? As a coach, I have to make tough calls. Maybe he messes up a few passes too many, but he always makes his opponent play worst. He’s our own Perrotta. Bruno Peres? We’ll have to evaluate the situation”.
