Roma, Ranieri: "De Rossi is a conductor. Champions League? One step at a time."

Roma obtained three important points as they chase a Champions League berth, defeating Sampdoria 1-0 at the Marassi, and now sit just 1 point away from Milan's fourth place spot. Daniele De Rossi's goal led the team to victory and manager Claudio Ranieri spoke to the press after the match.

"De Rossi is a conductor and makes you follow him. This makes me happy. Football is a team sport and it's important that everyone helps the team. Against Samp, who plays very well and looks to play in the middle, I had asked our outside players to stay closer to the middle and they did that. I'm happy for the result and how the match went. I ask the team for determination and the spirit to sacrifice. If you don't have that, you don't go anywhere. It'll be important to continue like this. We never had the ball against Napoli because we weren't playing as a team. Now we work for another week to make results come."

"Our Champions League objective? We must not think about it, even if the players rightly do so. One step at a time, and at the end we'll see the sum of what we were able to do."
