Roma, Pallotta:”Nothing we could do about Pjanic. We hope to break ground on new stadium in March”

Roma's president James Pallotta gave an insightful interview during Sirius XM's "Football Show" just as the Serie A season is set to begin. The Boston based entrepreneur touched upon many themes including the giallorossi's goal:"Our objective is the scudetto, we have a coach like Spalletti who is a guarantee in Italy and a vastly improved defense. Pjanic? I wasn't happy we lost him, but there was nothing we could do about it (the exit clause)"

Pallotta was asked about what he has learned about owning a team in Serie A as well as how he's handling the club's Financial Fair Play issues:"I was more naive in my first four years in Italy than I would like to admit. We are trying to build a family atmosphere at the club, I don't care if people attack me, I can take that sh*t, but I get upset if they attack the players. As far as FFP we met with UEFA about it, they said we made the best presentation, this should be the last year we are impacted by it"

Pallotta also talked about his plans for Roma's new stadium:"The new mayor has been great, we hope to break ground by March it will then take 24/28 months" In closing Pallotta was asked about Mike Piazza, who recently purchased AC Reggiana, a club in Italy's Lega Pro:"I met with Mike a few times and gave him some advice. If anyone can do well in Italy it's him, he has great people helping him"
