New Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is working to bring in some reinforcement to coach Fonseca. The Giallorossi are mainly working on targets for their defence, starting from a new goalkeeper. In this regard, the Italian club is still in talks with Real Betis for Pau Lopez and they are hopeful they can close the deal as soon as possible. The negotiations between clubs, however, have failed to yield a compromise as of yet, as Roma's offer of 25 million (20 million upfront plus the 50% future resale clause in Sanabria's contract) is deemed to low by Betis, which are asking a price of 30 million.

While the negotiations for Lopez will continue in the coming hours, the Giallorossi are working also on the centre-back, as they inted to bring in at least two new defenders. Talks with Atalanta for Mancini and with Betis for Bartra are ongoing, but also a new target has emerged for Roma: Nicolas Nkoulou from Torino. Roma seem to be very interested in the Cameroon international, but the relationship between Torino's president Cairo and Petrachi could prove a significant hindrance to a possible deal.

On the Higuain front, the Argentinian striker has reiterated his desire to stay at Juventus, as he still has two years left on his contract with the Bianconeri.
