PSG, Matuidi:"I thought I would leave for Juventus, but Emery told me he needed me"

Speaking to the French paper l'Equipe, PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi answered questions revolving around his summer drama and the approach by Juventus made for the player on the transfer market: "At the end of August my situation worried me because nothing was set yet. There were things that I didn't like. I had a few thoughts in mind and I wanted to respect those. Juventus? I was on vacation and it's true that I heard things that made me very upset. And my reply to those was that maybe this was the time to leave. With Juve my conversations with them made this idea seem more valid."

About the fear of not being properly respected at PSG: "Yes, at one time I was thinking even this. However it was also me who was at fault. I didn't understand the love that Paris was showing me. When Juventus came along, I spoke with Emery and he never changed what he was saying. The coach had never said that he couldn't count on me. This made me reflect. If Emery had not had said those things, maybe I would have forced my way out of there, which was never my intention from the start. Because I love this club."

"Extend my contract? Why not. I have to feel the club's love for me. No problems with the coach. Now the season is in progress and the club made me an offer to renew. Until 2020? It's possible. But for now I am reviewing the offer. We will see if it matches what my worth is now, if that's the case it looks positive."
