Napoli-Ilicic, agreement in principle with the player: the latest

Napoli are focused on signing Josip Ilicic. The former Palermo striker has been decisive in Atalanta’s pursuit of a Champions League spot, he has scored twelve goals to go with seven assists and he’s now the top target to improve Carlo Ancelotti’s attack.

It appears that Napoli have already reached an agreement with the player on a three year deal with an annual salary of €2.2 million after taxes. Atalanta qualifying for the Champions League or not will be a big factor, and while the bergamaschi aren’t open to selling at the moment, Napoli hope to close the deal for around €12 million while also being able to offer Roberto Inglese.

Ilicid’s current contract expires in 2020 so the summer transfer window will be decisive. Atalanta could offer him an extension while also increasing his wages with Napoli monitoring the situation.
