Napoli, from Berenguer to Reina and Ghoulam: the updates
Napoli is currently searching for a wide player in attack. Cristiano Giuntoli is still interested in the acquisition of Alex Berenguer. The Napoli sporting director met the Osasuna player’s agent. Berenguer has a 9 million release clause, but Giuntoli hopes to lower his eventual purchasing price. However, the first choice is Samu Castillejo of Villareal, who is much more expensive.
Napoli also hopes to make clear the situation surrounding Pepe Reina. The keeper is currently asking for a three-year contract, but an agreement could be found for a two-year deal. Possible substitutes for Reina are Neto, Leno, and Meret. Cragno is also being looked at after being promoted to Serie A with Benevento. Napoli is also working towards renewing the contract of Ghoulam. Jorge Mendes, the fullback’s agent, could arrive in Italy in the coming days to discuss the topic: the objective is to set the player’s salary at around 2 million with a low buyout clause and a percentage of his future sale.
