Napoli, De Laurentiis: "I'd abolish Champions & Europa League."

Napoli assured themselves a second place finish in Serie A this season, as Lorenzo Insigne's penalty gave the club a victory over Cagliari. Napoli will finish this season just behind Juventus, and a satisfied club president Aurelio De Laurentiis spoke to the press on both the club's season and European competitions.

"I'm happy with the job Ancelotti has done, Juve raised the bar with Ronaldo, but Napoli obtained as many points as any big European club."

"Champions and Europa League should be abolished for how they're currently structured. There needs to be one tournament with 80 clubs qualifying from the top seven leagues in Europe. We don't cultivate competition anymore in the national leagues, we're often confronting a sparring partner. We're playing too much and in an unspectacular way, tactics prevail and for us to have fun, we need to watch Manchester City-Tottenham and Barcelona-Liverpool. Our football is becoming boring, Champions by now is for just a few clubs and Europa League is a consolation prize."
