MLS, Montreal Impacts’ Revival

The MLS season is well underway as we are at the half-way point in the 2018 campaign. It has been an exciting season so far as things are very tight even if there is still a lot of football to go. One team who has been doing very well of late is the Montreal Impact.

Remi Garde's team were riding a 4 game winning streak prior to Wednesday night's defeat as they currently hold the 6th and final playoff spot in the Eastern conference. They started this past season off very slowly but they have turned things around incredibly well thanks in part to Garde's tactics and Ignacio Piatti's strong play. Piatti leads the Impact in goals and assists on the season as he currently has 9 MLS goals and 7 MLS assists to his name to date. Another player who has recently done well for the Impact is Saphir Taider as he has provided a lot of stability within Remi Garde's midfield.

Even with Wednesday night's defeat to the New York City FC, the Impact still hold the 6th and final playoff spot in the Eastern conference standings (tied on points with Philadelphia and 1 point up on Chicago who are 8th in the Eastern standings) The coming games will be very important for the Montreal Impact because they have to get back to winning ways. They will be taking on San Jose later on tonight and they will also play against Portland next Saturday July 21st. In between these 2 games, they will also be playing against the Vancouver White Caps in the Canadian championship.

Needless to say this will be a very important up coming month for Gard's team. At least the Impact fans have something to cheer about as their favorite team has shown constant progression throughout the season. With all the attention (rightfully so) focused on the World Cup, as France will be taking on Croatia this Sunday in the WC final, the MLS season is slowly approaching it's most entertaining point. We are in for a fun summer...
