Milan, Boban on Ibrahimovic: "He is unique, but negotiations started when we were in a different position in the table"
On the day of the celebrations for the club's 120th birthday, Milan failed to get the three points at home against Sassuolo as the rossoneri's several efforts were denied by the neroverdi's goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo, who hold the fort in the resultant 0-0 draw. Milan's Chief Football Officer Zvonimir Boban discussed the game and the Ibrahimovic deal in an interview with Radio 1: "We are sorry, we expected a different result on the day of the celebrations. It will take some time to see a great Milan again. We must work to create a team that can compete [for trophies], but we it's difficult to say how and when it will happen".
"Ibrahimovic? We will see if we will have to make transfer moves for a forward. However, Ibrahimovic is unique, he is different from the others even though he is not young. He is a player with plenty of personality and he has what it takes to make the atmosphere around a team pivot. When we started negotiating, however, we were in a different position in the table". Finally, Boban praised the work of their coach Pioli and dismissed the roumours about a possible return of Carlo Ancelotti at the club: "Now there's a good syntony between the coach, the team and the board. Pioli understood many things, even though he took the job in a delicate time. We are very happy with his work, you can see that on the pitch too. Ancelotti? Milan will always be his home, but right now it is not appropriate to link him to the Milan job".
