Messi, from his time with Argentina to Ronaldo and the words of Icardi: "I don't know what he meant"
Leonel Messi is ready to return to the Argentina national team. He has often been criticized for his performances with his country, and spoke about that and also many other topics in an interview with TyC Sports. Here are his words:
On Argentina: "This generation has been treated unfairly, we are professionals who have given a lot to the Seleccion. I don't know how many times I revisit that final at the Maracana against Germany. How many chances we had... if we only scored one. To win would have changed everything. Now is not the time to blow smoke but be realistic: it takes time to return to being a power. But I have no doubts that we will return: I want to win something with my country."
The difference between Barcelona and Argentina's performances: "Barcelona has its philosophy from when it was born, meanwhile in the national team there are not always players to adapt to that style of play or enough time to train that style. It's not easy to construct a team in the same manner with a similar mentality with the national team."
Closing his career in Argentina: "I would really like to play for Newell's, it's the team that I supported as a kid and I don't know why people say I support River. However, it's not easy to return to Argentina, I must think about my family and my kids. It depends on them too."
On Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus: "Who is the best in the world? Neymar, Mbappe, Suarez, Aguero. Did I forget someone? No, Ronaldo is on his own level, like me. I am honest. I miss having him in Spain, it was beautiful to compete with him despite the anger I would get when he would win titles and it would be beautiful to still have him here. Meeting him in the Champions League final? We think we can arrive, then we'll see who will make it. I have a lot of respect for Juventus, a great team, even more now with Cristiano."
On Icardi, who after the last games spoke of new positive air in the national team, an atmosphere that wasn't there before: "I have played a few games with him, I think. I am not sure what happened to him for him to say there were problems with the national team before. I don't know what he meant. No one has ever been treated badly in the locker room."
