Marseille, Rami contract terminated after appearance on TV show

Fired for an unjustified absence caused by his presence on...a television set for the French wrestling program "Fort Boyard." According to a report by L'Équipe, it went like this: Marseille did not use half-terms when decided to terminate the contract (set to expire in 2021) for the central defender Adil Rami, 33-years-old and a former Milan player.

The player collected 16 appearances for Marseille last season. After the match against Toulouse, in the middle of May, the French club justified his absence due to a muscular injury. Instead, according to L'Équipe, he skipped a training session to film an episode of "Fort Boyard," where he was fighting in the mud as the script dictates. This was the straw that broke the camel's back, as the club no longer made excuses for the player and ended his time with Marseille earlier than anticipated.
