Live | Tavecchio's press conference at FIGC: " I wanted VAR from 2014, I've brought Uva to UEFA's vice-presidency and Serie A to get 4 spots in Champions League"
Carlo Tavecchio, now former FIGC president, has talked in a press conference: "I resigned, and as a mere political gesture I've asked for those of the federal council too. No one has given them but me. We got to a speculation point that has reached unbelievable levels. Serie C has never been allied to the majority".
"When I had the feeling some people said I did things that I didn't, I stopped thinking and resigned for political reasons, not sportive ones. It wasn't me who picked Ventura as had said Malagò, Lippi did. Reforms can't be done for the football pitch. Identify the other federations' results. I wanted VAR from 2014, only Biscardi did before me. I've brought Uva to UEFA's vice-presidency, Italy to get 4 spots in Champions League. I've never had indemnities in 44 years".
"My only interest was to do well in these 90 days. I asked to move the attention in 10/15 days. Did we really need another coach? I've talked with great coaches, all booked, no one said they wouldn't come because of me. We've activated the federal centers, developed the women's football and got our books equilibrated. Italians deserved to go to the World Cup".
