Lazio, Inzaghi: "Bitterness and regret over the loss, we provided Bayern too many chances"

Lazio squared off with Europe's defending champions Bayern in the last 16 of the Champions League, and were defeated by a 4-1 scoreline. The Italian hosts were punished by a series of mistakes, and their opponents took advantage of their chances to inflict the punishing scoreline. Speaking to the media, Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi referenced the difficult evening:

"Evidently we were not ready for a certain type of match. We were too restrained, and we gave away opportunites for goals. Did I speak to the team? No, I typically don't do that warm. I want to watch the matches and analyze them. There's disappointment, for sure. Certain matches you cannot commit mistakes, you need to take advantage of what you make. There was a penalty in our favor, but we are here talking about a match against the world champions and we gifted three goals to them. These moments can define a match, we are not here saying Bayern didn't deserve everything, only that we were involved in certain moments."

Our objective was to reach the round of 16, we reached that. We feel a little bitter taste in our mouths, because we wished to have more players available. We will next prepare for the upcoming match with calm, before we think about the match in Munich we have several games in the league and we will look to make the most of them."
