Juventus, Pirlo: "I would reconfirm myself, my goal is to continue"
With the victory over Atalanta, Juventus have been crowned Italian Cup champions for the 14th time. After a year full of criticism, the one who rejoices most of all is Andrea Pirlo, who will close his first season as a coach with two trophies. The coach spoke, very smiling, to the microphones of Rai Sport.
"We had the desire to win, to bring home this trophy. Although we did not have a positive season we gathered together, we got it into our head that we had to take this cup home, like the Super Cup, because it was an important goal. Honor to them too, but Juve deserved this Cup, ”said Pirlo analyzing the game.
A spectacular final, in which the public also returned to the stands: "It was a wonderful match with two great teams that fought from the first to the last minute. A final worthy of the name, finally in front of the public. For them it was a great celebration because after everything that happened it was important to give them satisfaction, to make them come to the stadium, to show them a good match, so we are also happy about this ”.
The difference for Juventus was the second half. A radical change after the break, but the attitude was the same that Pirlo wanted to see right from the start: “We said it from the start but then we couldn't press high. We did it then in the second half and we managed to take the game in hand. " Nonetheless, Pirlo acknowledged the difficulties of the season, which he did not describe in a fully positive way: “There have been many because we would not be here to talk about a fifth place in the standings. These victories cannot erase the ups and downs. I learned a lot, many things have happened, but the beauty of football is this. Although you can't get 100% positive results, then you can get this kind of satisfaction ".
So Pirlo would reconfirm himself? “Of course I would reconfirm myself. I started being a coach for this. I love football, I love coaching, I love this club. Then the club will decide, but my goal is to continue ”.
Has Pirlo's Juventus changed recently? According to the coach, no: "Development has always remained the same, more or less we have always built with three players, then it depended on the teams we had against. But there was a lack of determination in many games because we lost the points against more affordable teams. Now we are here to play for the Champions League qualification on Sunday when not everything will be in our hands ". In the end, the big hug with all his boys, which drives away bad moods in the locker room: “It has always been gossip, never had a problem with the boys. They always gave 100% ".
