Juventus, Pirlo: "I am not stepping down, I will stay as long as I am allowed to."

A heavy loss suffered by Juventus against Milan, defeated at home by their rivals 3-0, left the bianconeri needing help to reach the Champions League after falling to fifth place in Serie A. Coach Andrea Pirlo responded to the disappointment afterwards, speaking to Sky: "During the week we trained with the right mentality and concentration. We were convinced we would play a good game, but that did not happen. It's hard to explain what happend, losing 3-0 in such an important game shows that there was a lot that went wrong."

"No, I am not resigning. I took on this job with enthusiasm and even through great difficulty my work continues. I think I can do better. With the team we will look ahead. I will continue to do my job as long as I am permitted to."

"I had a different project in mind. I thought I would have a different squad available, I have tried to work based on certain principles, but I have had to adapt. We'll continue to work on getting over this."

"The group is not resistant to change but perhaps at the start you have thoughts in mind which are difficult to do with certain players. I have asked them to give more and gut through, things can go wrong but pride should never be lost because we play for a club draped in glory. These performances cannot happen. I am calm, the club has given me great freedom and have always remained close to me. The off-field issues have not affected the dressing room. If we are not performing on the pitch it's our fault alone, and especially mine, I am at the top."
