Juventus, Allegri: "The second half could not have been played worse. Right now we don't feel good, but we aren't dead."
Juventus fell in Madrid in the first leg their Champions League round of 16 tie against Atletico at the Wanda Metropolitano, 2-0. The bianconeri failed to create offensive chances, and were scored on twice by their opponents after a scoreless first half. After the loss, coach Massimiliano Allegri was interviewed by Sky Sport, and he gave some sober context to the earlier events:
"It was an awful second half because we made errors that put us behind. They are very good at managing a game without allowing a shot on goal. And we didn't have one. But they clinically took their opportunities at the dead ball and that gave them the foothold in the match. We couldn't have played worse in the second half. We have a chance to get them back, we have players who are returning. Now we are not happy because of the 2-0 score, but obviously teams who lose the first match have won the second. The return match will be a big one and we will have faith. At 2-0 there is always a chance to get them back. We are not dead yet. The door is still open, we will be playing at home, we will be better prepared. We can't concede goals on those sort of situations against a team like Atletico. We need discipline and clear decision making."
