Introducing Sousa’s surprise at the Stadium: Federico Chiesa, starting against Juventus

Paulo Sousa and Fiorentina will face Juventus today in their first game of the season. A special game for many, especially the Portuguese coach who used to play for the bianconeri, but not only him. Because for Federico, it will not be a game like any other. It is his first start in Serie A, at Juventus Stadium, against the reigning champions of Italy.

Federico? Bernardeschi? He is in the starting lineup, too, but there is another Federico who will catch the eye of many people in the Fiorentina squad: Chiesa. An important last name in Italian soccer history, Federico is the pride of his father Enrico. A right wing who is technically gifted, he likes to begin out wide and then look towards goal. Growing up in the viola shirt, he worked hard day-in and day-out to demonstrate his true talent. When he joined Fiorentina's Primavera squad last year, where he exploded onto the scene, with Guidi as his coach: 8 goals in 29 appearances during the season, playoffs, and Coppa Italia Primavera.

And now it is his time to start for Fiorentina. Without Borja Valero? No problem, there is Chiesa. Together with Ilicic behind Kalinic, Federico will be there. His talent and desire has won over his new coach, Paulo Sousa, who will launch him from the start. He is betting on the pride of his father  Enrico and his desire to give this young player (class of '97) a chance. Starting against Juventus, in his first Serie A match, Chiesa is ready.
