Inter, Pioli: “Our objective remains third place. Brozovic and Joao Mario? I’ll evaluate them tomorrow”
After putting behind their defeat at home against Roma, Inter prepare themselves for their away fixture against Cagliari. The objective is to return to winning ways and continue the fight for third place. Here is what Stefano Pioli had to say in the press conference:
“On Sunday we lost a battle, but not the war. I fielded the best possible team, but clearly something went wrong. The match with Cagliari is important as we know we can’t afford to mess anything up in the race for third place. The key is to transform our disappointment for the loss against Roma into motivation. Cagliari has racked up many points at home, so we’ll need a top performance to win. Banega? He had some problems but he joined the group in training and is working well. I’ll field the best team possible to face Cagliari, as for Brozovic and Joao Mario we’ll evaluate them tomorrow”.
Pioli acknowledges the gap between his team and the first three in the standings: “It’ll be important to get as close as possible to the top this season and then try an improve the squad to close the gap. We need time to get to their level. If we lost our head to head matches with them, we’re clearly lacking something, but we’re on the right path”.
