Ilicic is the top name for Milan: rossoneri and the player in agreement on a deal

After Gasperini announced that Josep Ilicic would like a new adventure away from Atalanta last week, Milan are continuing their negotiations with la dea.

There is mutual desire among club and player. Milan and Ilicic, who began talks early on, have reached an agreement on a deal, meanwhile the deal with Atalanta is not completed. Milan's strategy: looking to give Stefano Pioli a new attacking midfilder after Calhanoglu's departure. 

Milan are hoping to wait several days for a deal that could close in the final week of the mercato, to try to obtain Ilicic on the best conditions possible, and given their agreement with the player is already reached.

Other deals for younger options, like Ziyech for Chelsea, have not yet materialized, that could evolve if the English club were open to a loan deal. Milan continues to listen to other clubs around Europe for opportunities, however they are content that Ilicic could be the solution they are looking for.
