Fiorentina, Pioli: "Inter is built to win but we can challenge them on the pitch"
Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli previewed the club's midweek fixture against Inter. La Viola defeated Spal in their last match on the weekend, and will look to continue to improve facing a difficult opposition. Pioli commented first on the duel between Icardi and Simeone: "Giovanni is growing a lot. Icardi is impressive, he is a beast in the penalty area. Simeone has different traits. He is a strong attacker but he can become even more strong. We have done well, but we have not accomplished anything. The season has just begun and we need to think only about the next match. We need to keep continually aware of our identity, defending and moving forward every time we are on the pitch. What has changed with respect to last year? A lot has changed. Last year it was a long road, and ultimately we were not a team, now we are. We are looking to get into the game, to give our best. Inter has great players, a top coach, and has been built to win. But we have everything to put a serious challenge to them on the pitch. Our attack is comprised of movement, not of stasis. Chiesa center forward? Sometimes he moves out of our system. If you try to be unpredictable, there is a risk of losing your shape. Their defense has to be strong in containing it. We want to create doubt among the opposition."
