Fiorentina, Pioli: "A lot of quality and youngsters: we could achieve great things"

The youngest team in Serie A and a great season as objective: Stefano Pioli is ready for his second season on Fiorentina's bench and now wants to take the best out of his squad. "We started the project last year, two "senators", Astori and Badelj, stayed and we had a medium-long term program - tells the coach to Il Corriere dello Sport -. Now it's time to consolidate all of this".

Pioli has been really satisfied with the club's transfers this summer: "We've pursued quality players, good on 1v1 situations, able to change the game at one moment or another. Edmilson, Pjaca, Gerson, Mirallas... Once they'll find the right intensity and rhythm, we could play the football I like. This group has enormous progress margins: Mirallas has said every training session is a battle to him, he knows he's fighting for a starter spot. This is the right spirit. Many youngsters but also a lot of will to do well. We have to always play better than our opponent and only think about the next game. We'll make calculations in the end of the season. Keeping the right line for this project, we could reach the level of the past Fiorentina teams who got in the Champions League".
