Costacurta: ‘Milan in Champions League virtually impossible, but so was winning the league in ’99…’
If the Serie A ended today, Milan would be able to qualify for the Champions League and achieve their goals for the year. We are only in the 12th match day, but what has been the secret for the ‘rossoneri’? Costacurta stated his opinions in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport:

I’ve had lucky coaches like Sacchi and Zaccheroni, but again, they created their own luck. Can Milan make it to the Champions League?: ‘Lets make things clear: This team is not a Champions League caliber team. Clubs like Juve, Roma, Napoli, they have the superior squads in all aspects of the game. On paper, it’s virtually impossible for Milan to qualify this year. At the same time I remember one of my Milan teams with Zaccheroni in 1998-99…we were a fifth placed team, yet we won the Serie A. It happened because he created a team with strong spirit’.
