Conte calls for Musonda to return: “He will come back to Chelsea; he does not play at Betis”… and Roma considers their options

Roma continues their search for a Salah replacement. One of the names being considered by the club is Charly Musonda, a 20 year old winger currently owned by Chelsea. The Belgian has been on loan to Betis since 2016, but after playing well during the second part of last season, the winger has had difficulties finding playing time. He has had eight total appearances, and only one was as a starter. This is a situation which is beginning to not sit well with Chelsea. Antonio Conte himself, in a press conference prior to the Stoke game, spoke about the player: “He will come back to Chelsea, because he is not playing much.”

In reality, Musonda is already training with Chelsea as confirmed by an Instagram post made by David Luiz. The player has returned from his loan spell in Spain, but the club is waiting until January in order to make everything official. Obviously, his final destination will not be Chelsea, because the club cannot currently guarantee him playing time. On the other hand, Roma would be able to offer him this given that they will be without Salah for a month. Musonda has all of the characteristics wanted by Roma: youth, technique, and speed. A scout has already given positive feedback; the first concrete actions will soon be taken by Roma.
