Chelsea, Zappacosta: "We deserve to win the FA Cup. Conte? I hope he stays, he is the one who brought me here"
After winning the title last season, Chelsea had a disappointing season finishing fifth in the Premier League and missing out on Champions League qualification. However the Blues have still the chance to secure a trophy, as today they prepare to face Manchester United in the FA Cup final. Italian wing-back Davide Zappacosta discussed the final and Antonio Conte's future in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport: "We deserve to win the cup. We worked hard all season and we always gave our best. We struggled in the Premier League and we came up against an outstanding Manchester City side, but we have been competitive until the end.
Conte is a really important figure for me - Zappacosta continued - He is the one that gave me an opportunity with Italy and brought me here to Chelsea, giving me a chance in a top club. I remember when he called me on August the 30th to ask me if I liked the idea of joining Chelsea. Of course I told him 'yes'. His future? I would like him to stay, but it's his decision to make. I can say that everyone here is on his side, he achieved some great results in these two years".
Finally, Zappacosta commented on Mancini's appointment as new Italy coach: "He is an amazing coach, he has what it takes to bring faith again in the Azzurri. That's what has gone missing a bit, faith and a bit of serenity. We have the players, people say we lack quality, but I think we have it".
