Chelsea, a loss for Conte against Tottenham: “Everyone ruled us out of the title race, happy with our work so far”

For Antonio Conte and Chelsea the streak ends at 13 consecutive wins. Tottenham snatched a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane thanks to Dele Alli, goal scorer in both occasions. Antonio Conte spoke to Sky Sport after the game:

“We need to be happy about our performance tonight. We leave after getting beaten by an excellent Tottenham. This isn’t anything like the defeats with Arsenal and Liverpool. We conceded goals in very delicate stages of the game, and we didn't manage to make use of certain scenarios in the second half. Nonetheless, we need to be happy: 13 consecutive victories in this league isn’t easy, but now we’ll continue working. We need to be happy of the work we’re doing, and never forget where we came from: An 11th place finish in last years premier league.”

He continues : “This year Chelsea wasn’t considered among the favourites for the title race, but the fact we’re currently sitting top of the league is clearly frustrating people. Purchases? It’s hard to find good solutions in January. I spoke about it with the club and we’re currently trying to find some alternatives. If we find any opportunities, we’ll take them, otherwise we’ll pick some lads out from the academy”.
