Belgium, Martinez: "Nainggolan? We already have Mertens and Hazard in #10 role"

Whenever Roberto Martinez releases his squad for any of Belgium's international fixtures, the question always remains the same: why isn't Nainggolan called up? There are many people in Italy but even in Belgium that ask that question constantly. Martinez spoke to Sportmagazine.levif.be about the topic, "I realize that Radja is a very popular player, but I have to make decisions based on the team's balance. I believe that at the number 10 position Hazard and Mertens are the best Belgium have to offer. Radja has given his best for Roma when he is the number 10 behind Dzeko. In the national squad when he has been placed in that position it hasn't gone well. I am aware that Radja has enormous potential but I don't think he can play the role of 15th or 16th man. He must be a key element on the roster. I don't think it would be good for him to be a reserve. The toughest part of being a manager is to find balance. The exuberant personality of Radja a danger? I must first see the performances on the field. Then when I see that it works on the pitch I think about how the player acts off of it, but for Radja I have not come to this point. My role is to the build the best team possible."
