Bayern Munich and their pursuit for Tottenham's Harry Kane: the situation
Bayern Munich are continuing to work on their pursuit for Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Kane, 29, is keen on joining Bayern this summer, who held at least two rounds of positive talks with Bayern last month, with Paris Saint-Germain also understood to be interested - as previously reported.
The Bundesliga champions have so far made two offers to Spurs for Kane, with €80 million plus bonuses being the latest proposal, according to Sky in Germany.
Despite no breakthrough in negotiations yet, Bayern remain confident a deal can be agreed this summer, with Bayern ready to table a new offer.
A face-to-face meeting between Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and Bayern Munich's CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was held in recent weeks to discuss a possible transfer.
The confidence from Bayern was in fact made publicly clear by Uli Hoeneß, the club’s honorary president, where he spoke to the German media earlier this month on a potential deal for Kane:
"Harry Kane has clearly signalled in all conversations that his decision stands - and if he keeps to his word, then we'll get him, because then Tottenham will have to buckle,” Hoeness told Sport1.
“Daniel Levy is clever. First we have to get him to name a price. He's playing for time. He's a great professional. I appreciate him very much. But on the other side, [Bayern] aren't people who have been doing this since yesterday.”
Bayern are discussing their next step; and so far, the possibility of a buy-back clause that can be activated after two-three years has been discussed recently as a possible idea in the hope of satisfying Levy, who is reluctant to sell his star player this summer.
Kane has one-year remaining on his current deal with Spurs, with the club still hoping to convince him to extend it.
