Atalanta set to close deal for Kovalenko: player expected in Italy

Atalanta are set to welcome Viktor Kovalenko. The Bergamaschi decided to pay Shakhtar Donetsk a transfer fee to anticipate his arrival to the January transfer window, rather than signing him on a Bosman when his current contract expires on June 30th.

Kovalenko is expected to arrive in Italy in the coming hours to take his medical. He's appeared in 199 games at Shakhtar with 32 goals and 12 assists, he's appeared in 30 games for Ukrainian national team.
