Argentina, Batistuta: “Higuain? He’s not as good for his nation, why not call Icardi?”

After scoring two goals against Napoli in the Italian Cup semi finals, helping Juventus advance to the final stage of the competition, Gonzalo Higuain has once again made the disparities between his club and national team performances more apparent. Another stellar Argentine striker of the past, Gabriel Batistuta, chimed in on the subject while speaking to Tycsports:

“The number nine of a team has to be able to score. I really like Higuain, unfortunately he just doesn’t perform to the same standards in the national team. He’s doing extremely well with Juventus, where the team is competing on many fronts. But if he needs rest, why not call up Icardi? This is a national team, not a club. It’s normal to go through phases”.
